As an extension of each HarborArts project, we are developing several educational programs and art activities designed to increase awareness among students and the public of the problems facing our oceans and waterways. Connecting our young people to the sea and giving them a clear message about the importance of stewardship, encourages them to take positive actions now and for the future.
Classroom Resources
HarborArts is developing a unique series of storybooks that will communicate environmental education in an age-appropriate way. Each of our books contains useful information and tips designed to help young children understand why the environment is important to save. The series also offers age-appropriate curricula using a hands-on approach and recycled materials.
Collaborative Environmental Education Exhibits
It is important to educate the public that our harbors, lakes and streams, are all connected to the oceans, and therefore it is vital to keep all waterways clean. Students of all ages will have the opportunity to collaboratively design and create art exhibits with environmental theme to display to the public.
